PLEASE NOTE that to book an appointment to see the GP or Nurse at BSU, students are advised to enrol for online services. This will enable you to book appointments 24 hours a day, 365 days a year as well as request repeat prescriptions, view test results and view your coded medical record.
All newly registered students will automatically be enrolled for online services and login details will be sent via text message or email, as long as this has been provided at registration and you have consented to receive notifications. Otherwise, your login details will be posted to you. Please ensure you provide a full Bath postal address when you register with us. If we are not able to send your login details by any of the above methods you will need to come to our main surgery at Fairfield Park Health Centre to enrol in person. You will need to bring a photographic form of ID with you.
Alternatively, appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery on 01225 331616 to speak to a receptionist (Option 3) or use our automated telephone booking system (Option 1) to book an appointment.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU CANNOT BOOK APPOINTMENTS VIA STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES AT BSU.
We aim to provide our students with a service that is easily accessible wherever you might be in Bath. GP’s are usually the first point of contact with the NHS and provide advice and treatment for a whole range of medical and psychological problems. If in doubt ask the GP. If you are not registered with a GP yet, please click here for more information on registering with Fairfield Park Health Centre or click here to download our Registration Pack
Advice for New Students
For life threatening emergencies dial 999 immediately.
If you need to be seen urgently, i.e. on the same day, and it is not a life threatening emergency, the following options may be available for you.
- Walk in and Wait Clinic at the Fairfield Park Health Centre
Mon-Fri 8.00am -10.30am.
This clinic is run by a GP and a Minor Illness Nurse.
No booked appointments-just turn up between these hours and you will be seen but you might have to wait.
- Duty GP
A GP at Fairfield Park Health Centre is available during these hours to either provide advice over the telephone or see you at the surgery, if you cannot make it to the Walk in and Wait Clinic. A home visit may be arranged if you are too ill to get to the Surgery. The GP might be able to sort out your problem over the phone and if a prescription is required this can often be faxed to your nearest Pharmacy.
- Out of Hours
If you require medical assistance outside of the surgery opening times, i.e. Mon-Friday 6.00pm-8.30am; Weekends; Bank Holidays please phone 111, free for urgent telephone advice or a visit by a GP. The 111 service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Dental emergencies
Private and NHS dentists in Bath provide dental care.
The Dental advice service will provide advice for either routine or emergency care. Experienced and qualified dental nurses, supported by dentists, provide call handling and dental assessment and you will be directed to the most appropriate service or option.
